Samay is an example of how applying technology in the right way, at the right time and answering the right questions can have a tremendous impact for millions of people around the world. How does it work? Through the installation of a small device to measure lung function that achieves 90% accuracy.
One of the reasons we are proud to support a venture like Samay is because it has a story worth knowing.
Maria Artunduaga, MD, MPH, MTM is a Colombian physician trained at Harvard and Berkeley Universities who, motivated by the story of her grandmother, a COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) patient founded Respira Labs (now known as Samay), a company that helps patients with respiratory diseases, in 2018.
How does it work? Through the installation of a small device to measure lung function that achieves 90% accuracy. In just four years, Samay, led by its CEO, Dr. Artunduaga, is about to break an old paradigm of continuous, non-invasive lung function monitoring, which is invaluable in a post Covid-19 world.
This year, Samay joined our family and raised US$1 million in a pre-seed round led by Zentynel. Subsequently, the startup garnered more than 67% of the votes at Inno Madness, a recognition organized by the San Francisco Business Times, beating out 30 Bay Area startups.
Samay is an example of how applying technology in the right way, at the right time and answering the right questions can have a tremendous impact for millions of people around the world.
