The challenge of creating a nation with more science.  This is the title of the column by our General Partner, Cristian Hernandez, published in La Tercera.

In it, he reflects on the challenges and difficulties regarding public funding for R&D in Chile, a country with many needs, where a smaller proportion of resources are allocated to science, innovation and technology.

Despite the limitations, these resources have contributed significantly to the country, not only to scientists. If the country has more funds for the promotion of R&D, it will be the collective that will benefit, not science as a unit.

In this context, we appreciate the government’s announcement to move forward until 1% of GDP is allocated to R&D (currently it is only 0.34%).

Entrepreneurship in biotechnology requires a lot of effort, time and capital. For this reason, the consolidation of a functional community of researchers is fundamental.
